ESCAPISTICO. Premiere What happens when you disappear for a moment? Not to escape forever - just to hide from the noise. Turn off the lights, leave messages unread, lock yourself in a room where silence seems safe. But silence is not always silent. Voices begin to sound in it. Your own voices. One by one they take on human form, and now fear, temptation, tiredness, hope stand side by side. In Escapistico's play, reality is divided into fragments of personality. And each of them goes on stage. As in the story of Billy Milligan, where one personality replaces another, the hero is confronted with alternative versions of himself. The escape into the subconscious turns out to be even more chaotic than the escape from the outside world.
It is an experiment with time, sound and movement. The central object - a metal ball - becomes a living instrument. Every touch, every interaction of bodies creates music in real time, thanks to a modular synthesiser. Sound and movement are inseparable.
Everything is different here.
Costumes created by artificial intelligence.
Music born of touch. No repetition. Everything for the first time. Only here. Only now.
Theatre is the most honest form of escape. Not because it takes you away from reality. But because it allows you to see it differently. From the inside. From the side. Under a microscope.
ESCAPISTICO is not an escape. It is a chance to stop and look at yourself without illusions. And maybe for the first time - for real. This experience does not disappear with the final eclipse. It lingers - as an echo, as a question, as an answer that comes later.
Come.
Disappear for a moment.
See the music - hear the dance.
1984. ANOTHER
«... They accept the most monstrous distortions of reality because they do not understand the monstrousness of substitution... They swallow everything, and what they swallow does them no harm, leaves no residue, just as a grain of corn passes undigested through a bird's intestines...'. Is it possible to dance these lines from the book? Is it possible to dance a book when it's Orwell's 1984? Yes, you can, and that's exactly what the INSHA Dance Company does. Here they hold out their palms, into which another portion of propaganda falls and which they greedily swallow like grain. And now they are singing something triumphant and belligerent from behind their bars, because every dissenter is their personal enemy... Here they are watching you in the half-light, ready to grab you for every extra word, to read your thoughts, their mouths twisted by the horrible grimace of Edvard Munch's scream, and this scream of fierce hatred is addressed to you. Here they are, building the walls of their cardboard prisons for you... But first there was music. It covered both the stage and the audience in darkness with a kind of merciless metallic noise and clang. It blinded them with the bright light they had been praying for and from which there was nowhere to escape, not even behind bars.
This music could only have been written by Icelandic cellist Gildur Gudnadottir, award-winning and Oscar-nominated for The Joker and Chernobyl. And this music could only be complemented by Haushkā, the pianist and composer of Patrick Melrose's soundtracks. This music was used by the talented choreographers of the ballet 1984. ANOTHER Ilya Miroshnichenko and Ekaterina Kuznetsova turn Julia into a triumphant dancer in the dark and Winston into a rebel fighting for freedom. Because love can and should rewrite the worst scenario. It is stronger than those who put you behind bars, it is the antidote to every lie, and only love can outshine the exhausting and blinding light of gods invented by someone else.
"THE CHOREOGRAPHIC READING OF THE ICONIC LITERARY STORY IS THE QUINTESSENCE OF THE PLOT AND THE NOVEL'S MAIN THESIS ABOUT THE CONFRONTATION OF THE INDIVIDUAL WITH THE SYSTEM.
Orwell's hero was ready to give his life: 'To die hating them is freedom'. The directors leave this sacred right to the heroine, who, the other, must continue the journey or die. Just like Orwell... In the end, freedom is feminine. - Larysa Tarasenko for The Denʼ magazine about the play 1984.ANOTHER"
